You may know that Wacom’s latest generation of Intuos tablet (like the Paper Edition) with an inking pen (ex.BallPoint Pen KP13000D) is not Wintab32 compatible anymore, thus no more compatible with Eye and Pen. Wacom developed a proprietary communication interface (“WILL” – Wacom Ink Layer Language) that you must pay to access, one licence fee for each installation. For us, this is a “No Go”.
Fortunately, we validated a workaround, we explain hereafter.
wacom One 13 (ref. DTC133W0B)* is a 13 inch pen tablet, Wintab32 compatible, thus with Eye and Pen.
It is also compatible with Bamboo Slate et Bamboo Folio notepad’s inking pen (ref. UP370800).
Then, if you lay a sheet of paper over the tablet, you can write, and Eye and Pen will record data like with a “standard” tablet (e.g. Intuos).
To summarize:
– either you connect it as usual, and you get a pen display tablet, you write on with then “plastic tip” pen provided with,
– or you only plug the USB wire (you don’t plug the HDMI video cable) and you use it with pencil UP370800 and sheet of paper, like if it was an Intuos tablet.
(*) A new Wacom 13 model is sold, “Touch” (DTH134). The “touch” function may be disabled thanks to a switch on the tablet side.
